SWANS WARY OF ‘DOG TRAP
Seeking a win that would push the undefeated side back into the Top Two on the Major League Footy Florida Winter League ladder, the St. Pete Swans know they need to look ahead in their fight for the Winter Premiership.
Just not too far ahead.
Entering Round 8 of the 2016-’17 winter campaign, St. Pete needs to post a victory Saturday, and will be taking on a winless Pasco Black Dog FC side whose record would suggest easy pickings for the Red and White.
Looking past Pasco, though, would make this match-up seem the definition of the classic ‘trap game’.
Despite being yet to notch a win – Pasco could still drop to the bottom of the ladder and be saddled with the winter wooden spoon – the Black Dog have been anything but an ‘easy W’, fighting in both games and finding themselves with a -11 point differential. That they’ve been close in both losses should serve as something of a wake-up call for the Bloods, who can still overtake the Suncoast Suns and claim the circuit’s minor Premiership with wins in Rounds 8 and 9.
First things first, though – simply taking care of business in Round 8.
The St. Petersburg Swans (1-0-0) will host Pasco BlackDog FC (0-2-0) in Round 8 of the Major League Footy Florida Winter League Saturday, February 11. The match will follow the club’s weekly 10 AM training session.
All trainings, practices and competitions are always free, and are open to co-ed players of all ages and skill levels.
