SWANS SWEEP ‘FISH TO LAUNCH DERBY

The St. Petersburg Swans opened the 2019 Major League Footy Florida Derby with a solid sweep of Starfish FC, Saturday in St. Pete, running out Game One winners 102-66, then holding on to take Game Two 48-30.

Played in scorching mid-Spring conditions, the Swans’ double-header sweep gives the Red and White a seemingly comfortable vantage point for the remainder of the MLF Derby Season.

A scoring differential of 156.25% likely means just one win from two in their next match-up versus Orlando will potentially lock up a Derby Final berth for St. Petersburg.

That September 28 twin-bill remains on the long-range radar for now.

Each MLF side competes in four matches throughout the Derby off-season competition, with one meeting monthly through August.

The September slate goes weekly September 14, as the circuit preps for both the 2019 MLF Florida Derby Championship Final (Super Saturday) – and also the launch of the 2019-20 Premiership Season.
