With a regular-season highlighted by big wins over cross-state brethren the Miami Saints, the St. Petersburg Swans enter Saturday’s 2018 Major League Footy Summer Season Championship Final with revenge on their minds.

At 7-3, the Swans reversed a mid-season swoon in turning back the Saints and Florida Lions in an exciting Super Saturday Showdown Carnival two weeks ago, and return to the Common at Crescent Lake with only one black mark on their 2018 Summer Campaign left to correct – a 142-78 drubbing at the hands of Starfish FC on May 12 stands as the side’s worst loss of the season.

While Coaches Greg Bray and Matt Elliott may have expected to reach the Summer Final, virtually no one in St. Pete would have thought they’d be facing the Starfish in the Championship.

The rout by the ‘Fish was the Blue and Gold’s only win on the year heading into the run home, when St. Petersburg’s original footy identity suddenly charged to life late, posting five wins on the trot to make the Final.

On a day made for footy glory, the Swans will look to lock up the summer crown with a win Saturday, though they won’t have much time to reflect on the 2018 campaign.

The circuit’s move to an October – March head-to-head season means Florida footy will see only a four-week break before action begins anew.

Major League Footy’s 2018-19 campaign will kick off October 27, 2018 – coincidentally, with a rematch of this weekend’s tilt by the lake.
