SWANS READY FOR FIGHT TO FINISH
With the 2018 Major League Footy Premiership Season now well into the run home, the St. Petersburg Swans – at 5-3, and in first place on the ladder – are in need of one more positive result in order to lock up a berth in the MLF Finals.
Having led the table wire-to-wire since April, that state of play would have been hard to imagine earlier this summer.
Two consecutive losses after a sizzling 5-1 start have allowed the Tampa Bay Bombers and Florida Lions to climb into the thick of things at 4-2, with each having ample remaining opportunities to take over the league lead.
With a reschedule of a crucial match with cross-state rivals the Miami Saints (3-1) still pending, the St. Petersburg side has a distinct disadvantage, as both Tampa Bay and Florida have at least six more matches remaining – plenty of chances to pass the Swans by.
As MLF sides begin to coalesce into set roster lists for the 2018-19 campaign, the Swans side is also beginning to gel around a young core.
That young group will need to find its footing as the 2018 summer season comes to end – and before the MLF 2018-19 Premiership Season kicks off, Saturday, October 27.
