#ONTHEGOODFOOT: SWANS GET BACK TO BASICS IN WINTER OPENER
Looking to work a number of new recruits into the fold – and with the brutal Florida summer finally giving way to more footy-tolerant conditions, the St. Petersburg Swans will open the 2018-19 Major League Footy Winter Premiership Season with an eye on stronger footy fundamentals.
Following a 2018 summer season that saw the Bloods go 7-0 when they allowed the opposition fewer than 100 points – but stumbled to an 0-4 mark when they surrendered triple digits – Swans coaches and EFL veterans Greg Bray and Matt Elliott are sure to start Saturday’s training with a series of drills emphasizing ‘Footy 101’.
As those drills will be followed immediately by a matinee twin-bill vs. Summer Premiers Starfish FC, the squad is very likely to be put to the test right out of the gate.
For the St. Petersburg Swans, it’s going to be a season of taking a sounder approach to ‘Footy 101’ – and then taking the teachings of their tried-in-the-wool coaches straight to the ground.
The St. Petersburg Swans will meet Starfish FC, Saturday at 11 AM in the first competition of the October-March regular season.
