SUMMER SIESTA: SWANS ON 2-WEEK BYE IN LADDER CHASE
With a two-week break in their own match schedule, the St. Petersburg Swans will be relegated to observers this weekend, when the Tampa Bay Bombers clash with Starfish FC in Week 12 of the 2018 Major League Footy Premiership Season.
Coming off a brave effort that fell short in a 51-point loss to the Miami Saints in sultry South Florida last Saturday, the St. Petersburg side will look to regroup before a July 14 Twilight game vs. Tampa Bay.
The Swans (5-2) still stand at the top of the ladder, albeit with added pressure and unable to control the turmoil coming in the race to October.
Should either the ‘Fish or Bombers sweep this weekend’s matinee twin-bill, that team would vault all the way to #3 on the table, drawing level with Miami in the Win column.
In the case of a Bombers’ sweep, Tampa Bay would head into their clash with the Swans with a chance to move into #2 and stand just one game behind the Red and White, should they also post a victory in that July 14 clash.
That ladder noise would be quelled for St. Pete if the results should be square this weekend, maintaining the status quo – at least for now.
