ST. PETE SEEKS ‘X’-FACTOR
The St. Petersburg Swans will incorporate a trial match under proposed AFLX rules into their pre-season training this Saturday at 10 AM, as USAFL veteran Patrick Bilder (New York/Baton Rouge/St. Pete) leads the upstart Lakeland Tigers in the Tabbies’ Winter Footy debut.
The AFLX rules trial will begin at 11 AM, immediately following the club’s pre-season training session.
The training session begins at 10 AM on the Common at Crescent Lake Park in St. Petersburg, with the trial match to follow.
AFLX is the 7-a-side format of Australian Rules Football, currently in development by the AFL, and intended for play on a soccer or American football (gridiron) field.
Saturday’s trial will be the Swans’ second test of the proposed gameplay rules.
The trial match does not factor in the 2017-’18 Major League Footy Florida Winter League standings or results.
The Common is located at the north (22nd Ave. N.) side of Crescent Lake Park, and free neighborhood parking is available to the immediate east and west of the Common.
