SOUTHERN SOJOURN FOR SCINTILLATING SWANS
The St. Petersburg Swans travel to the friendly confines of Croissant Park in Ft. Lauderdale for a rematch with cross-state rivals the Miami Saints this Saturday.
Ball up is 2 pm.
Having dismantled the Saints 66-11 in the April 14 Season Opener, St. Pete Coaches Greg Bray and Matt Elliott will lead the Bloods to two training sessions – Wednesday and Thursday at 6 PM – with the hope that this South Florida visit won’t echo the season history between the clubs.
The home side has won each of the past six meetings between the teams, usually with lopsided final tallies.
While the Swans (5-1) appear in form – having suffered only one defeat on the season, anything is possible when facing Saints stalwarts Neil Cohen, Tom Hecker, Anthony Colarusso and the cohorts.
Saturday’s result will surely impact the race to the post-season, as St. Petersburg can extend an already commanding lead with a victory.
Miami can ratchet up the pressure on the ladder-leaders with a positive result.
The Saints were rude hosts to the Clearwater Kangas in the last match at Croissant Park – scoring early and often in a 15.16.106 – 4.4.28 rout.
