Pat Bilder (#10) and Austen Kugler help lead St. Petersburg’s potent offense

Despite their 1-4 Metro rules record early in the 2017 season, the St. Petersburg Swans will head to Nashville Saturday with an opportunity to showcase the club’s improving offense.

With matches against the hosting Nashville Kangaroos and Atlanta Kookaburras, St. Pete looks to return home at least 1-1 in 2017 USAFL play. The Swans defeated the Kangaroos at the 2016 USAFL Nationals D4 Championships – the two teams’ only match to date. St. Petersburg has never played Atlanta.

Both Nashville and Atlanta are projected to compete in D4 again at the 2017 USAFL Nationals in San Diego, CA., while the Bloods are projected for a move to Division III.

This weekend’s tournament – originally slated for Nashville’s Elmington Park Grounds – has been moved to the Metro Soccer Complex with an anticipated 2pm start.

Austen Kugler, Patrick Bilder, USMNT member Dustin Jones, leading scorer Jake Keglor and midfielders Ken Scheidt and Basil Benjamin are expected to be named to the Swans’ traveling list, which will be announced Thursday evening.
