MIDWEEK REPORT: BLOODS BACK IN ACTION
Six weeks ago, the Swans’ place on the 2018 Major League Footy ladder seemed all-but-secure.
Cruising to a 5-1 mark entering a midsummer clash with the MLF debutant Tampa Bay Bombers, the Bloods held a 6-point lead with less than two minutes between themselves and a sure lock on a Finals berth.
That midsummer night’s dream turned into a nightmare when the Bombers stormed back to take a razor-tight affair, 110-100.
The loss, coupled with a blowout defeat at the hands of the Miami Saints, made the road to the Finals significantly more fraught for the Red and White.
Now at 5-3 (20 points), and having fallen to third on the ladder, the Swans are seeking to recapture their early-season magic when the Saints and Florida Lions visit Rollboto Oval at Cresent Lake Common this Saturday.
The final two matches of the regular season loom like a pendulum for St. Petersburg – win and they’re in, lose and go home.
The St. Petersburg Swans will take on the Saints 1t 4:45 PM in Game Two of Saturday’s ‘triple-header’ carnival. Game Three will see the Swans tangle with the Lions at 5:25 PM.
