IT’S ON: SWANS’ JONES HEADED TO AFL IC17
St. Petersburg Swans Ruck Rover Dustin Jones is headed back to the AFL International Cup, and will compete in IC17 as a member of the USA Revolution Men’s National Team.
Jones, a 19-year footy veteran who has also played for the USAFL’s Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia and Florida clubs, is a former AFL scholarship winner, and two-time USMNT MVP.
The Revos will head to Melbourne for the 2017 iteration of the International Cup, which sees teams from around the
globe converge August 5 thru August 19, with the IC17 Grand Final to be played as a curtain raiser for a Round 22 Collingwood-Geelong tilt at the MCG.
Revolution coach Tom Ellis is looking to improve on an 8th-place finish at IC14, and Jones is the first-ever member of the St. Pete club to make the trek to Melbourne.
The St. Petersburg Swans return to training Saturday, May 6 – with a 10 AM session on the Common at Crescent Lake. The next home metro match at Four ‘N Twenty Field at Campbell Park in downtown St. Pete sees the Bloods hosting Orlando AFC, Saturday, May 20. First bounce will be 7 pm.
