Footy veteran and St. Petersburg Swans 2016 Comeback Player of the Year CJ Morton looks to lead the Bloods back to the USAFL Grand FInals in 2017.

A 2016 season that saw the St. Petersburg Swans battle their way to the USAFL D4 Grand Final in their Inaugural League campaign may now be in the history books, but supporters of the Red and White believe the next chapter will be well worth the read.

With a co-ed player list now well over 50-strong, and balanced with a coveted mix of veteran savvy and explosive emerging talent, the St. Pete side has its aim on bringing home the Premiership hardware in 2017.

Returning to training this weekend after a break for the Holiday Season, St. Pete coaches and players will be not only be beginning preparations for the 2017 journey, they’ll also be competing for the region’s winter league title as well.

Having formed the USAFL-recognized Major League Footy Florida Winter League, co-ed players from the Swans’ player roster is currently mid-way through an Inaugural winter season that will begin to heat up Saturday as well.

With seven sides competing for a chance to advance to the Major League Footy Winter Championship February 25, the club is leveraging efforts in training, recruitment and competition to prepare for a run at the USAFL National Championship in October.

St. Petersburg Swans (Tampa Bay ARFC) 2017 resumes Saturday (10 AM) on the Common at Crescent Lake in St. Pete. This week’s Major League Footy Florida Winter League Round 4 match (Clearwater Kangas (0-0-0) vs. StarfishFC (0-1-0) will be played immediately after the training session.
