COOL RUNNINGS: SWANS BRACE FOR BRISK PRACTICE
While it may not seem so cool to most footy players and fans in the US – especially in late January – the St. Pete Swans are prepping for their first ‘chilly’ training conditions of the winter this weekend.
With a high temp of 58 F forecast for St. Petersburg on Saturday, the club will take to the training ground in temperatures right around 50 F, or, about 20 degrees cooler than last weekend’s sessions.
Of course, footy is meant to be a winter sport, especially in warmer climes, and the winter season in Tampa Bay most closely lines up to winter in Victoria…whereas the calendar merely saying it’s footy season generally means daytime game”feels-like” temps of 100 + in Tampa Bay, certainly not optimum.
That said, the change might make for a bit a memory of short-lived relief during those sweltering regular-season matches in #dtsp.
